Children's Scrapstore

Artrageous

We are a charity that collects safe waste from business which can re-used as a low cost creative resource by our member groups. We store the resources in our scrap warehouse in Bristol and our member groups collect all the resources they need and take it back to their groups. Our scrap warehouse stocks all sorts of things people need for creative play such as paper and card, foam, plastic pots, tubes and tubs, netting, fabric, books, CDs and all manner of off cuts and left overs from business. You'll never know what strange things you'll find in the store too All the stock is low cost.

The suggested donation for a trolley of scrap is only £13.25 and members donate less money for less scrap, and more money for more scrap. To access the scrap you must first become a member.

Our membership is open to groups working in creative play, care, educational and therapeutic settings. Check out the membership info page for more details.

Artrageous is our art and craft shop, which is open to the public as well as our members. All profits from Artrageous go back to the charity side of our work so shopping at Artrageous supports Children's Scrapstore.

All our members receive a 20% discount when they shop in Artrageous. We are situated in The Proving House which is in the St Werburghs area of Bristol.

Go to the Contact us page to find out where we are and when we're open. Go the About us page to find out about all the organisations who call The Proving House their home. We also do lots of other things!

We run a rural outreach project in B&NES, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire where we turn venues into a Scrapstore for the day and provide free art training. These are open to the public and our members.Go to the Scrapstore Roadshow page to see more.

We run free sessions in Artrageous so people can try out the products on sale in the shop. Go to the Super Saturday Sample Session page to find out more.

We have equipment that we loan out at low cost. We have badge makers, parachutes and musical instruments. Please go to the Loan equipment page to find out more.   We have started a project in conjunction with Bristol, Bath & NE Somerset Council, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Councils where we will be taking creative resources to schools. Go to the Projects page to find out more.

We offer a low cost, high return funding clinic to both members and the public. Go to the What's On or About Us page to find out more.   There are lots of Scrapstores in the UK. At present we are working towards forming a Federation of Scrapstores. Please go the Projects page to find out more about the Federation.

History

Children's Scrapstore started off as a 'Friends of the Earth' project in 1982, the first premises being a small operation in a garage. We have moved several times over the years, from Camerons Balloons in Bedmenster to Arnos Castle in Brislington to Welsh Back in Redcliffe. In 2003 we moved finally to our very own home in St Werburghs, where you will find us today.
